Instructions:
Frog Body:
- Body Construction:
- Cast on 19 stitches with MC (Green) for one leg.
- Follow the steps similar to the chicken’s tail to create three points for the frog’s body. These points will form the frog’s legs and body base.
- Knit across all stitches and continue increasing using W&T method until 20 sts.
- Bind off the stitches loosely after completing the last point.
- Create a second half of the frog’s body in the same manner.
- Assembling the Body:
- Join the two halves together with a seam or single crochet using CC.
- With the seam visible on the right side, pick up 73 sts along the straight edge of the joined body for the frog’s back.
- Shaping the Frog’s Back:
- Step 1: Knit 7 rows with MC.
- Step 2: Switch to CC and knit 10 rows.
- Step 3: Begin short rows to shape the frog’s back, knitting fewer stitches with each row until you reach the desired shape.
- Creating the Frog’s Head:
- Use short rows and shaping techniques similar to the chicken’s head but knit fewer rows to give the frog a rounder face.
- Head: Start with 59 stitches and reduce gradually to form the head shape.
- Frog Eyes:
- For each eye, CO 10 stitches with white yarn.
- Knit in the round for a few rows, decrease to shape the eye, and bind off. Attach to the frog’s head, adding black yarn or safety eyes for pupils.
- Arms and Legs:
- Arms: CO 5 stitches, knit in the round for desired length (about 3 inches), and shape the ends by decreasing.
- Legs: Follow the same steps as for the chicken tail points but adjust to form frog toes. Each toe should be a little pointy and created by casting on fewer stitches than for the body.
- Underbelly:
- CO 2 stitches with CC (light green or yellow), increase up to 23 sts, then follow a similar pattern as the chicken’s underbelly, but shape it to fit the frog’s round body.
- Stuffing and Assembly:
- Stuff the body with polyfill as you sew the underbelly to the body, ensuring it’s evenly filled.
